Another summer is about over and the weather is starting to cool. This makes the work on the Hatz even more enjoyable; however, it doesn't seem to go any faster. We have not accomplished much since Bartlesville. After all, there was Poplar Grove and AirVenture and now Cottage Grove (Labor Day Weekend.)
The Gaggle at Cottage Grove was small this year, only two Hatzes on the field. Our meeting was held in the hangar with the Hughes racer and we watched videotapes of the flights. Jim Wright made a copy for all that wanted them. The whole group didn't get into the picture (See photo pages) which included Jean and Don Berry, Ron Bartley, Al and Carole Sherman, T. K. and Judi Severson, Stan and Carol Stiles, Ron and Jerri Smith, and Ken Knight. Next year's meeting will be one week earlier, the week before Labor Day at Cottage Grove. The following year (2004) we plan to have the meeting at another location. I will be looking for a site. In the future, we'd like to have the meeting at a different site each year. The picture also shows some airplanes in the background, including two white biplanes (a Bucker and a Hatz both built by Al Sherman, Ron Bartley's blue Hatz. (Don and Jean's Bonanza, too). The bushes behind the aircraft are blackberry bushes and they were loaded with ripe berries! Stay Hatzy! Don Berry |
