Oshkosh, 2000 -
Waking up on a cool morning to the sound
of radial engines, crawling out of the tent, and saying "good-morning"
to your Hatz. Bumming coffee from the neighbors who actually
have room for a camp-stove and watching the rising sun sparkle
against the dew-covered Hatz.

Eve, owned
by Jeff Cain, won Reserve Grand Champion at the Antique Airplane
Association fly-in Minden, Nebraska, summer of 2000.
Eve was built by Ray and Dorothy Hill. |

Don and Jean Berry sent in some great pics.
Here's their rear, adjustable seat. |
 |
|
Here's a detail shot of Don and Jean's pushrod
controls in the wing. |
|
|
Another shot of the wing. Look at all that
beautiful woodwork! The entire wing, with aileron and wing walk,
weighs in at only 52 pounds. |

Their center section is coming together! |

Gordon Hockman's Hatz #184, NX1863. First
flight: July, 2000. |
|
|
Gordon's Hatz wieghs only 905 pounds and swings
the prop with a modified and rebuilt Lycoming O-290 GPU engine,
putting out 125 hp. |
|
|
No electrics and built to plans except
that upper wing is 2 inches higher.
That runway looks a tad short before the
hedgerow, but the wind's good. |
|
|
Just how did we get it OUT of the hangar? |
