Dale and son arrive at Whittman Field on Sunday morning, July
25.
A view of the flightline looking North from Airshow Center that
Sunday morning. Nobody here but that little Hatz on the left.
In his chosen spot, Dale ties down and unpacks his gear.
Kevin Severs and Rick Hansen stand by as Dale literally dives
into unpacking. An unintentionally unflattering picture of Dale,
but what the heck.
Rick holds the fence back from falling on the Hatz. You can never
be too careful.
It's LONELY out there. There only thing missing is tumbleweed.
"La Casa de la Slurpy Muck" in Camp Scholler. Those
shadows are from the trees of Paul's Park, right across the road.
Another view of my campsite. It's still early in the week yet
and all that space around me filled up quickly.
The Wood Workshop building. The tent to the right is the Acro
Sport folks. This here is Pober country.
The Hi-Tech Rib Jig on display in the Wood Workshop. Charlie
Becker provided that spiffy laminated poster on the wall, a reprint
of the Sport Aviation article. In the foreground is a traditional
jig for an Acro Sport.
Pober Junior Ace wing coming together in the Workshop. Note the
use of compression ribs in this design, rather than the compression
tubes used in the Hatz. There's no one way to build an aeroplane.
We few. We happy few.
Life is good in the Wood Workshop. Even the "evil"
scroll saw in the foreground looks contented.
Mitch Brown tries on a Grand Champion Hatz. It fits!
